We see this structure everywhere. You are asked to vote for the lesser of two terrible candidates, but the act of participating validates the system that produced them both.
You are forced to choose between two healthcare plans that both deny you coverage, but only after paying the non-refundable premium to access the portal.
This panel targets the architecture of false choice. Institutions love to present the public with a fork in the road, demanding debate over which bad option is slightly less ruinous. But the debate is a distraction from the floor plan. The real cost isn’t what happens after you choose; it’s what you are forced to step over just to reach the turnstile.
By the time you pull the lever, the system has already taken what it wanted. The clerk in the booth doesn’t care which door you pick. They only care that you paid the entry fee.
BUT WHY:
This is part of an experiment: we are keeping count of how many scenes it takes before we agree that leaders with real power should prove they are psychologically fit to hold it.
By turning our instincts and hive habits into animals, the project asks why we still let untested nervous systems run entire societies.
In a world where one unstable nervous system can scale to entire institutions, this project treats Reptilocracy as the cartoon diagnosis and points to one concrete step: the Change.org petition (Stronger Checks and Balances: Psychological Fitness for Australia’s Top Leaders).
