This week, our cube-cows learn feedback comes pre-chewed: the manager never speaks directly, just sends the office dog to fetch the bad news, tail wagging the whole way.

This week, we observe the massive divide between those doing the labor and those crafting the narrative of success. The hyena is busy perfecting a slide deck to prove everything is fine, even as the background cows are drowning in a sea of sticky notes and printer jams. This week, our cube-cows get performance reviews from the bull, graded on a curve the bull set, against a bar the bull cleared himself.

We do not ask if the leader is sane, we only ask if he is currently having a good day.

This week, our cube-cows learn performance improvement is a two-way street: the manager hands over a PIP, and the employee hands one right back: set priorities, give feedback, remove blockers, and stop changing direction.
